Two tracks of proggy, instrumental bizniss and one that'll appeal to the garage heads
Based in Salerno, Italy, Vincenzo De Robertis's La Pitti Records label has only been around for a couple of years but has already firmly established its place on any serious deep house lover's must-check list. This latest offering, from Dutch producer ZaVen (Deep Clicks, DeepWit, Batavia Records) doesn't disappoint in the slightest.
It's a three-track affair. First up is Kissing itself, a rolling near-instrumental in which wordless voice fragments echo atop lolloping, tech house-leaning beats and understated but chunky bass, while vaguely proggy synths flutter alongside. No Matter What rocks a similar MO but, with more driving 4/4s and less use of the voice-as-instrument snips, hails from that place where deep and progressive house collide. Finally, Stuck In The Deep sits right on the deep house/garage cusp, and is worth the price of admission on its own.
A very strong selection again from La Pitti, with Stuck In The Deep leading the charge.
