2 Bit Thugs

Kaisen Records serve up a discofied stomper from label boss Yuga and compatriot RoyTson

If there's one thing this reviewer's a sucker for, it's a Tyree Cooper hip-house vocal. And I'm about 87.93 per cent sure that's where (or rather who) the uncredited vocal on this discofied stomper from Kaisen Records boss Yuga and fellow Italian producer RoyTson comes from. It definitely is a sample, though, cos a quick Google shows the same vocal cropping up on quite a lot of other records... including some gabber thing from 2003, which is a bit odd really given that it goes on about "House music is what we all need" and such.

Aaaaaanyway... vocal aside, Stars On 45 is an uptempo, driving houser that's vaguely tech-tinged, yes, but more importantly absolutely dripping in disco flava. It's not gonna make any friends among the chin-stroking community, admittedly, but that throbbing disco bassline and soaring, chorus'd female "wooh-ooh-ooh-ooh" backing vox will ensure maximum damage on those house dancefloors where unselfconscious fun takes precedence over scoring cool points.

The disco-house sound does seem to be making a bit of a comeback of late, so who knows how this might fare commercially? Either way, it's as fine an unashamed cheese slice as you'll hear this week, I can promise you that.
