The two UK house producers team up for Kaluki Music
With a distinct nod to the UK rave scene of the early 90s, two of the scene’s hottest artists, Weiss and Eli Brown, drop a single-track release on the awesome Kaluki Musik which is guaranteed to establish them further as prodigiously talented producers in the minds of dance music fans the world over.
After crashing onto the scene back in 2013, Weiss has risen to even headier heights with releases on labels like This Ain’t Bristol, Toolroom and Dirtybird. Eli Brown, meanwhile, has quickly established himself as an artist of real distinction in the house world with his singularly sinister, twisted style. Labels like Repopulate Mars, ViVA Music, Toolroom and many more have all recognised Brown’s raw, sometimes caustic talent.
Push It Up itself has a percussive intro and straight away the rave influences are in play, with breakbeats and ragga vocals in place as the track builds towards a breakdown which, when it drops, instantly transports you to rave nirvana with floating off-kilter pads and more breakbeats, this time looped up to add authenticity, and the timestretched ragga vocal sounding great. As it comes back in the crowd should go crazy and continue to do so for the remainder of the track.
If you like to take your crowd on a musical journey and have a fondness for the rave sound of days gone by, this one comes highly recommended by one old raver who's going to enjoy hammering it for the foreseeable future!
