'The Red Sun EP' is the Brazilian producer's first solo release on Christian Smith's label since 2014's 'Opalescence'
Sometimes, experience counts. Christian Smith's Tronic Music imprint may be over 20 years old, and Wehbba might be getting on for 'veteran' status himself these days, with a production CV stretching back over a decade. But as this latest release shows, both label and producer are still capable of teaching the youngsters a thing or two!
Admittedly, if it's paradigm-shifting musical innovation and pioneering experimentalism you're looking for, then you may need to look elsewhere - the three tracks here definitely represent a more 'traditional' tech-house sound (if such a thing is possible). But between the rolling, terrace-friendly percussion of The Red Sun itself, the moody, heads-down chugger that is Psyche and the more ethereal, tripped-out Vaporware, we can't see many tech-house DJs (or dancefloors) grumbling too much!
Psyche stands out for this reviewer.
