Patrice Bäumel is in the hot seat on 26 July, followed in the coming weeks by Franky Wah and Yotto
Renaissance's Engage series of streamed DJ sets returns this weekend, with Patrice Bäumel at the helm.
Like a lot of labels and club brands, Renaissance turned to streaming at the start of lockdown. The first three Engage streams featured Hernan Cattaneo (26 April), Danny Tenaglia (3 May) and Sasha (10 May), each of whom was given two hours in which to showcase "a more leftfield snapshot of their influential favourites and home-listening go-tos". With the broadcast-quality stream complete with overlaid graphics, animations and a live Zoom watch party for viewers, the streams proved a big hit – so much so that they're doing it again.
This time, though, the series is a bit more spread out. German techno star Patrice Bäumel [pictured] is first up, this Sunday (26 July); after that you'll have to wait till 16 August to catch Franky Wah in action, and until 6 September for the set from Finland's Yotto.
Renaissance boss Geoff Oakes says: "The next phase of Engage is very much about stars of today who are going to define tomorrow. These are artists who have really come to the fore in recent years and it’s going to be interesting to see where they decide to steer Engage musically.”
Engage will be streamed 7pm-9pm UK time via Facebook Live and Mixcloud, but you'll need to sign up in advance, which you can do at Renaissance's own website. And to whet your appetite, there's also a cheeky 20-minute preview of Bäumel's set available on Mixcloud…
