Lebanese producer W!SS captures that late 90s feeling perfectly, says Danny Slade
Trance imprint Redux Magic welcome back W!SS for his second release on the label.
There are two mixes of Moments, but the Extended Mix is the one. It starts with a kick and a throbbing synth riff, then builds with a riser or three to a melodic mid-section with a nice piano lead and crisp synths. Then comes the breakdown, which is full of wonder and awe with some great sounds and a solo'ed piano riff; then the synth version of the same melody kicks in, and it's a phat one that will definitely get the crowd moving. The Original Mix is just a shorter version without the great build-up, so my advice is stick to the Extended Mix
Most dance music genres are constantly reinventing themselves, but with uplifting trance this isn't the case, with the late 90s/early 00s seen as a golden age when the genre was at its peak. A lot of modern trance lacks that magical sound, but W!SS has come up trumps with this release. So if you're after an old school-sounding track with modern production values that will take the roof off your venue whenever it's played, I can definitely recommend this one.
