The track features Roots Manuva and Thundercat, while the album's co-produced by Switch
Hard to believe, but it's been a full ten years since Jon More and Matt Black, better known as Coldcut, last released a record. But now they're back with new album Only Heaven, which has been produced in collaboration with Dave Taylor - AKA Switch, and one-half of Major Lazer.
The first single from the album is the title track, which features a vocal from UK hip-hop legend Roots Manuva, and which you can hear below. Oh, and Thundercat plays bass on Only Heaven, too... how's that for a heavy-hitting line-up? They've also revived their old Ahead Of Our Time label (under the Ninja Tune umbrella) especially for the album.
Coldcut last dropped any original productions in 2006. Since then there've been a couple of DJ mixes released, but otherwise they've been concentrating on other ventures: curating an art exhibition to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their Ninja Tune label, soundtracking arty French films and creating the Ninja Jamm music-making app.
To promote the album, Coldcut will be DJing at the Jazz Cafe in Camden, London on 3 December, alongside fellow UK innovators Adrian Sherwood and Dennis Bovell.
