Tech-house stalwarts Deeperfect prove once more that Italians really DO do it better!
Waaay back in the last century, when iDJ was still called X-Fade, a certain other dance mag had a January cover that said "1999: the year of prog"… then followed it up with one that asked "Is prog dead?" all of three or four months later. Which turned out to be quite central to the whole iDJ ethos, really: we looked at that and said, "Let's not do that, eh? Let's just write about good dance music right across the board, and fuck fashion and trends."
Well, here we are in 2020 and it's the year of prog all over again! Our inboxes are flooded with "melodic techno" and everyone's slagging tech-house left, right and centre. But we still don't give a monkey's about what's considered hip this week and what isn't: a valid point can be made regarding the reams of soundsalike sample-pack tech-house released these past few years, sure, but there's still plenty of good stuff out there. And Deeperfect, who've been working this kinda tackle since 2004, still do it better than most!
This latest offering from label boss Stefano Noferini is a fairly simple, groove-led affair that's supplied in two mixes, though they're actually pretty similar – compared to the original, Luuk Van Dijk's remix is bigger, bassier and buzzier, but either one will rock a dancefloor for sure. Just like the best tech-house, or the best music in any other sub-genre, always did and always will…
