Turkey's Sezer Uysal returns to his deep house alias once more

Spennu, as you may or may not be aware, is the alias used by Turkish house producer for his deeper productions – of which this latest offering, coming on Adel Ghandour AKA Big Al's Haute Musique, is a perfect example.

It's a simple two-track affair consisting of the Original Mix of Essence Of Life plus a re-rub from Dan K. The former opens with crisp, toppy drums and a warping synth sound, before the bassline and kickdrum arrive, ushering in garage-y organ keys, sax parps and a wordless snippet of male soul vocal that loops more or less throughout. And from there it rolls along nicely until the midsection breakdown, where the piano comes to the fore and a second vocal comes into play – this one spoken/whispered, female and French. Flip it for Dan K's remix, which opens with hefty, warm 4/4s and nagging organ/synths, then brings the female vocal in a lot sooner. This mix isn't HUGELY different from the Original, it has to be said – it's just that little bit smoother and dubbier.

As such, I'm not picking a fave here because for the real deep house lovers, both rubs are eminently playable. Top-drawer bizniss as ever from Haute Musique.
