2 Bit Thugs

US veteran Sanchez, UK scene darling Huxey and vocalist Sophia join forces

The ever-talented Roger Sanchez reassumes his S-Man guise and teams up with Huxley for this cut which features the deft vocal skills of Aimée Sophia.

Their three-way collaboration serves up two mixes, of which the first is the Extended Mix. It starts with a percussive loop, which is topped with Aimée saying "over me" over and over. Then a hi-hat and pad sound are introduced, thickening the musical stew before the full vocal comes in, along with a subtle keyboard riff. The vocals are eloquently delivered and the whole track is perfectly balanced and very polished.

The second mix is the Dub, which is very similar to the Extended Mix but minus the full vocal, keeping in the “over me” and a few other sung lines and really letting the backing track shine - which it does. It's simple but so well put together that you can really get lost in the music, and feel it coating your senses with a rich warmth of tone that you didn't notice with the full vocal.

For me they're both great tracks but I prefer the Dub - it has a wistful feeling about it that just sounds great over a large soundsystem.
