Prince Fatty teams up with legendary drummer Horseman and lover's rock vocalist Shniece McMenamin

UK reggae/dub don Prince Fatty joins forces with lover's rock singer Shniece McMenamin and legendary reggae percussionist Horseman on a cover of Kraftwerk classic The Model, coming on his own Evergreen Recordings label.

"Unlikely reggae cover versions" are, of course, the least unlikely thing in the whole world of music – there are bloody millions of them, and if you looked hard enough you could probably even find other reggae versions of this particular track! Even so, what the trio have come up with here is something special, as they marry McMenamin's sweet lover's vocal to a tuff dub backdrop and flip the perspective of the song while they're about it, so that the model herself is now singing, rather than being sung about. There's also a second, uncredited dancehall-style male vocal, which helps keep things from getting too light and fluffy, while if you'd sooner avoid vocals completely there's a matching Dub, which is actually being released first.

It's a shame we're (probably) not really having a festival season this year, because this could've been HUGE. As it is, it's merely highly recommended!
