'So Meta' is taken from USRNM's new album 'MSPriints', which is out on Monday

Our second track premiere this week comes from UK label Rednetic, as iDJ brings you a first chance to hear So Meta by USRNM. The track comes from his new long-player MSPriints, which drops on Monday (7 June).

Based in London and headed up by Mark Streatfield, AKA Cyan341, Rednetic Recordings have been providing the world with leftfield, abstract or experimental electronica since 2003, their output spanning techno, breaks, IDM and more. USRNM, meanwhile, is the techno alias of Stuart Bowditch, who as well as making deep, dubby and minimal techno with his USRNM hat on also works at the more esoteric end of the spectrum – think sound design, field recordings and high-art sound installations – under his own name.

His latest offering MSPriints is a nine-track affair which, in the words of the hype sheet, “continues [his] exploration into patterns, percussion and refined melodies, drawing on the language of the internet and our current technological environment”. Tracks range from the abstract and glitchy V Replaces U to the dark and menacing Troll, but our favourite is So Meta, which – to our ears, at least – is sparse enough for the minimalist crew but packs enough punch to appeal to fans of the tougher stuff, too.
