US label JourneyDeep serve up more fierce, dark techno
Our second track premiere this week is another offering from US techno label JourneyDeep, as iDJ brings you a first chance to hear Malalim At Madilim by Alan Fraze. The track is taken from the Deep And Dark EP, which is out tomorrow (20 December).
Like JourneyDeep themselves, Alan Fraze hails from Denver, Colorado. He took up DJing as a hobby in the early 00s, while studying for a degree in IT. After graduating, he spent several years working in "corporate America", then ran a gym for a little while, but he's been DJing and producing for a living since 2011. His work has appeared on labels such as 1980 Recordings, Bedroom Muzik, Phunk Traxx and many more, and been played by the likes of Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin and Timo Maas.
The Deep And Dark EP consists of two tracks, both of which live up to the title's billing admirably! Kina Na Giza is an eyes-down, driving affair with a spoken male vocal loop saying, er, something about weekends, we think. But we just ever so slightly prefer the B's Malalim At Madilim for its vaguely tripped-out, dystopic feel.
What the title means, we haven't a clue, but see what you think...
