The single's out on Monday (23 October)
The exclusives keep on coming here at iDJ Towers, and today we bring you the first chance to hear laag (Keep Dreaming) by Italian techno producer Andrea Frisina. The single's out on Monday (23 October) on Gate Null Recordings.
For those that don't know, Andrea Frisina emerged on the techno scene in 2009, when he was just 20 years old, and has since gone on to release over 90 singles and EPs - since 2012 almost entirely on his own label, Gate Null - with his tracks played regularly by the likes of Carl Cox, Umek and Joey Beltram. In 2012, El Cubano 2011 was shortlisted for Beatport's 'Best Track Of The Year' award, but probably his best-known track is 2013's Save The Nature, which topped Beatport's techno chart for over a month and remains his biggest seller to date. Meanwhile as a DJ, he's played on four continents and has appeared at all the major international dance music events such as ADE, WMC and OFF Week in Barcelona.
His latest offering laag (Keep Dreaming) is, as you'll hear below, a heads-down techno cut built to keep locked-on dancefloors moving through sunrise. Sometimes you don't need to push the envelope, break new ground or sail your ship into musical waters never previously explored by humankind - sometimes all you need is a hard-as-nails kick, a nagging, head-frying synth riff and a hefty chunk of MLK's famous "I have a dream" speech.
No, it's not a new idea by any means. It still kicks like the proverbial mule, though...
