The unit is Pioneer's new flagship 'all-in-one' and will retail for £1,899
Pioneer has announced the launch of a new all-in-one controller for rekordbox and Serato users, the XDJ-ZX.
It's only a couple of months since Pioneer brought out the DDJ-1000SRT controller for Serato users, and at first glance the two units may look very similar. That's because in many ways they are, with both borrowing heavily from the company's flagship nxs2 range in terms of layout and features. The key difference is that where the DDJ-1000 is a controller for software running on a laptop, the XDJ-ZX can do everything on its own, with no laptop required – making it ideal for mobile DJs, or anyone else who regularly lugs their own kit from one venue to the next.
The XDJ-ZX is a four-channel beast that supports the playback of AAC, AIFF, MP3 and WAV files. Pioneer's own rekordbox dj software is built-in as standard, with Serato DJ Pro support coming in early 2020. Onboard there are 14 Beat FX and six Sound Color FX, plus eight peformance pads per channel. There are full-size jogwheels (each with its own miniature LCD screen) either side of the central mixer section, while at the top you'll find the full-colour, 7-inch touchscreen that obviates the need for a laptop.
The unit features two line, two phono and one Aux inputs for the connection of external turntables, CD players, FX units or other equipment, as well as two mic inputs (on XLR and 1/4-inch jack) and three USB ports (2x USB-A, 1x USB-B). On the outputs front there are twin master outputs on XLR and RCA phono, a 1/4-inch jack booth output and two headphone sockets (3.5mm and 1/4-inch).
The XDJ-ZX measures 878x466x118mm, weighs 13kg, and is available now, priced £1,899. For more infomation, check out the video below or see Pioneer DJ's own website.
