Alex Patterson has launched a new record label, and there's a book on the way too...

The Orb have announced the dates for their rescheduled You Can't Fit Sense Where There's None tour, which was supposed to happen last year but will now take place in 2022 instead.

The Orb's line-up for this tour will consist of Alex Patterson and current core partner Michael Rendall, plus Jah Wobble and ambient legend Roger Eno, and the material presented will be drawn in large part from the albums No Sounds Are Out Of Bounds (2018) and Abolition Of The Royal Familia (2020), as well as dipping into the band's extensive back catalogue.

Support will come from Mad Professor, doing his trademark live dub thing, while we're promised “The Orb's most immersive, mind-expanding and all-encompassing visuals yet” courtesy of Holotronica and Deep Visual. Legendary punk and reggae DJ Don Letts will also play at all shows except London.

The full list of dates is as follows:

17.06.22: 02 Ritz, Manchester
18.06.22: Stylus, Leeds
19.06.22: SWG3 Galvanisers, Glasgow
21.06.22: Boiler Shop, Newcastle
22.06.22: 02 Institute, Birmingham
23.06.22: SWX, Bristol
25.06.22: The Forum, London

In other Orb news, Alex Patterson's biography – the brilliantly titled Babble On An' Ting, written by long-time friend and collaborator Kris Needs – will be published by Omnibus Press on 28 May. Patterson says working with Needs on the book has been “brilliant fun” and allowed him to “set the record straight on Planet Orb”.

Patterson also recently launched a new record label called Orbscure Recordings, which will showcase his work on various projects, and with various other collaborators, away from the main Orb camp.

The first release on the label, The Heavens by Sedibus, finds him back in the studio with Andy Falconer, who engineered and co-wrote the ambient sides of …Ultraworld. The pair hadn't worked together since, but were recently reunited when they both played the Space Mountain festival in southern Spain, which is curated by fellow original Orb member Youth.
