The Superfett boss samples Ms Day's golden tonsils to devastating effect
Nhan Solo releases his first track on Superfett Records, which is sister label to his Mother Records imprint. The label has put out some fine releases from the likes of Mat.Joe, KlangKuenstler and Shaf Huse in the past, so it was only natural that the label boss would eventually want to have a go!
In doing so, he's made use of an acapella from house diva Inaya Day that was already on wax. The result is a great blend of of a techy backbeat and soulful vocals that works like a charm. Head Up High starts with a kick, hi-hat and bass tom, which are joined by the bassline, claps and the acapella, cut up and looped to form a great hook which drives the track ever forward. A one-note string line adds tension, and there's an atmospheric breakdown where another part of the vocal takes centre stage.
This track will get the crowd well and truly into the groove, and has just the right mix of old school cool and new school production smarts. The effect on the right dancefloor is second to none, and I have no doubts that it will hit big this summer and onwards.
