The album will be out on On-U Sound in May

Lee 'Scratch' Perry's next album, Rainford, is to be released by On-U Sound on 10 May. The album has been produced by label boss Adrian Sherwood, and has been two years in the making, with recording sessions taking place in Jamaica, Brazil and London.

The album is described by Sherwood as "the most intimate Lee has ever made". The title comes from his birth name and the final track, Autobiography Of The Upsetter, is exactly what it says, with Perry literally narrating the story of his life, from making records with Coxsone Dodd in the 1950s, to the 70s Black Ark era and his more recent collaborations with the likes of Keith Richards, The Clash, Moby and the Beastie Boys.

Rainford will be available in Standard and Deluxe vinyl editions, on CD and digitally. You can check out the track African Starship (which also features on Pay It All Back Vol 7, out on On-U on 29 March) below.
