The long-running (but occasional) duo strike trance gold
Mark L2K makes a welcome return to Redux Recordings, and this time he's partnered up once more with long-term collaborator DJ Alph@ to bring you this fine piece of uplifting epic trance.
Real Love starts with a short drum roll and builds with the bassline and pad sounds to some more drum rolls and a riser, before controlled hell breaks loose with acidic lines, a giant synth riff and risers a-plenty taking you to a breakdown with operatic vocal pads, jangly pianos and explosive noises in the distant soundscape. The break is a long one and the second half brings in the staccato main riff over a long drum roll that builds and builds to the drop, where the track comes slamming back in and it's full-on 'arms waving in the air' time.
The whole track is harmonious and melodic, and its expert drum programming and mesmerising breakdown make it something special, something so much more than your average, run-of-the-mill trancer. It's a well-crafted mini-masterpiece and reminds me of how big room trance used to sound back in the glory days, but without being stuck in the past. There's only the one mix, but one is all you need when the quality of writing and production are as high as they are here.
