South Shields lad Mark Jenkyns and Ecuadorian producer Andre Salmon join forces, with a little remix help from Apollo 84

Mark Jenkyns and Andre Salmon reunite to release the Where We Live EP on Resonance Records, with a remix ot the title track by Apollo 84.

First up is the original mix of Where We Live itself, which starts off with the main synth riff and a percussion loop that are quickly joined by a funky bassline and a hi-hat. Then there's a breakdown and the arrival of the quirky female vocal samples, which are well messed up and work like a charm, really bringing the track to life. The second track, MFB, starts with another funky bassline and percussion, then adds male and female vocal chops which give it great texture and supreme danceability. There's a breakdown at about 3.5 minutes in, which is welcome as the track is over eight minutes long; saying that, though, it never drags and the breakdown just adds another dimension and ushers in a new synth sound.

Finally it's over to Apollo 84 for their remix of Where We Live. This one comes straight at you with a massive-sounding intro that sets the pace for what is a great track. It has echoed effects and is accentuated by a booming, funky bassline which will give your speakers a good workout, and the chopped-up vocals are added too, with beefed-up percussion and a really phat sound. All three tracks here have a lot going for them, but I think this remix takes the gold for me.
