London duo MANT come to Solardo's Sola Music label
They've not been in the game that long, but with releases on the likes of Elrow Music, ViVA and Circus, London duo MANT have made quite a mark in quite a short space of time. And this new EP on Solardo's Sola Music will do little to harm their burgeoning reputation.
The EP consists of two tuff, chunky cuts that you can file under 'house' or 'tech-house' as you see fit. On the A, Coming Back is the more 'up' and party-centric of the two, marrying rolling beats and a hefty but not in-your-face bassline to stuttering, chopped-up vox while some rave-y flourishes in the breakdown serve to maximise dancefloor appeal. Flip it and you'll find E.F.F.E.C.T, which despite operating in fairly similar territory generally speaking is just that lil' bit more low-slung and groovy, with another big, strutty bassline again taking centre-stage, topped with a female voice repeating the letters that make up the title.
There's nothing particularly innovative or groundbreaking going on here, admittedly - just two house slammers built for peaktime play. But since when was that a problem round these parts?
