Bristolian produer Bacavi does us a mix as he drops the frst track from his soon-come EP
In our Making Waves series, we showcase DJ mixes by rising stars of the scene. Today it's the turn of Bristolian producer Bacavi, who made his debut on Icarus's Fly Boy label earlier this year and has just released the first track from his follow-up EP.
AKA: Louis Curtis
Location: Bristol, UK
Describe the music you make in 20 words or less: Heady, emotive electronic music for both clubs and earphones.
Five key influences: My hometown, Bristol! Musically, it’s Icarus, Qrion, Caribou/Daphni and Special Request.
What one artist/producer would you most like to work with, and why? I would most like to work with an upcoming indie band, like NewDad. Their vocalist is mesmerising, and I love genre cross-pollination.
If people check out just ONE of your tracks, what should it be? Never Do. It’s the first track I wrote for the Bacavi project. It’s informed how I approach all my new tunes and summarises my sound quite well with its transitions between heady club drops and melodic, emotive moments.
What else do iDJ readers need to know? The three-track Never Do EP will be coming out on Fly Boy Records on 5 February.
Never Do is out now as a single – buy/stream it here. The full three-track Never Do EP will follow on 5 February
