The mighty Renaissance have themselves been undergoing something of a renaissance of late, what with the brand's return to Ibiza and the Renaissance Remix Collection series, both installments of which so far have topped the overall Beatport chart. And now Maceo Plex becomes the latest DJ/producer to do the honours, with his edit of Remake's Blade Runner.
Blade Runner was originally composed for the 1982 film of the same name by electronic music pioneer Vangelis, but the track was taken to the dancefloor ten years later by Italian outfit Remake, whose version featured on Sasha & John Digweed's seminal 1994 mix album Renaissance: The Mix Collection.
Plex says of his edit: "The original Vangelis soundtrack for the movie Blade Runner is my all-time favourite cinema soundtrack, and one of my favourite records from the early 90s is the cover by Remake. I wanted to make my own version to honour this special music and add a little something personal."
Plex's edit is available digitally now, with a limited-edition vinyl release to follow on 20 July.
