Two originals, two remixes and dripping in Da Funk, says Danny Slade
This two-track release is born from the pairing of Amnesia resident Mar-T and White Isle veteran Luca Donzelli, who together have delivered two original tracks that sound awesome, with two remixes of the second track Funkadisturb also supplied.
First up is Panzadelic, which starts with a fast-paced conga loop which is quickly joined by a frenetic bassline and claps, then further fattened up with a swung hi-hat and and other percussive sounds until you have one seriously funky groove going down. As if that wasn't enough, the pair then add a funky guitar loop, male vocals and a rich cornucopia of other generally funky sounds, making for a track that should rock any dancefloor when its played.
Funkadisturb is not as fast but still packs a weighty funk punch, with guitar loops, mad sounds, female vocal samples and crazy Latin-influenced percussion - and that's just the Original Mix. There's also the Onno Mix, which is a little mroe restrained, with subtle percussion and quite a dubby feel, messed-up detuned vocals, a second female vocal and a relentless, bass-led backbeat. Then finally you have the Censored Mix, which bleeps out the swearing but apart from that is the same as the Original Mix.
For me the two originals work best here, and I can see both causing major dancefloor mayhem wherever they're played.
