The two Italian producers team up for a Wildchild rework that's surely destined for big things
After five months of trying, Mother Recordings finally get sample clearance to use one of the best samples from the 90s - Wildchild’s Renegade Master. If you were around (and out clubbing) back then, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about: it was a massive track back in the day, and here it's been brought up to date in fine style.
The track starts with a shuffling drum beat topped by a James Brown sample saying “one”, until eventually the funky bassline comes in, accompanied by scratch samples and rim shots. Then the vocal sample comes into play, still sounding every bit as fresh as it was did all those years ago. The end result is a proper party-starter: the two Italian producers have done a fine job and haven't turned it into a cheese fest, as could so easily have been the case, but instead kept it chunky and techy
Power To The People has already won support from the likes of Loco Dice, Seth Troxler, Carl Cox and Patrick Topping, to name but a few, and with a May release date it's just in time to be picked up by DJs heading to the White Isle... where if it isn't one of the standout tunes of the season, I’ll eat my hat!
