Judge Jules serves up a surefire club smash on M.I.K.E Push's MPS label
Judge Jules is one of the dance industry’s most experienced and hardest-working exponents, and certainly knows how to make a successful dance record. His latest release Erotica is no exception: it's the first of three tracks that he's releasing before the end of 2018, and if they're all as good as this then we're in for some musical treats.
There are two mixes, an Extended Mix and a Radio Edit. The style is a real hybrid of genres that you wouldn't normally hear in one track, but Jules has done an excellent job and produced a bit of a behemoth. The Extended Mix starts with a kick, clap and female vocal stabs, backed by a swirling riser. As the track progresses, stabbed pad sounds are added and the track really winds up the tension out on the dancefloor with a developing trance-y riff. There's a small breakdown and then madness ensues, with another, tougher riff added, along with snare rolls and more vocal samples which take you to a grunting acidic riff. There's a very individual percussion line and you can tell this track was made by someone who knows how to entertain a crowd: it's a real weapon of a tune that when deployed should pack the floor with energetic dancing folk.
The Radio Edit is self-explanatory and should pick up some play from the radio jocks, but my advice is head straight to the Extended Mix and look at the happy faces in the crowd as this tune rocks their raving socks off.
