NYC duo Groove Addix team up with acclaimed vocalist Annette Taylor
Groove Addix (Nervous, Soulfuric) and veteran vocalist Annette Taylor (Fluential, Azuli) deliver a bumpy, soulful house vibe, with Annette’s distinctive voice at the forefront of this funky assault on your senses.
The Original Mix starts with a funky bassline and has jazzy piano chords and violin stabs, with the outstanding vocal right at the forefront and sounding disco-tastic, loud and proud! The Conan Liquid & The-Wolf Remix doesn't have much of an intro, instead going straight into the funkiness and placing the vocal atop a filtered piano riff which sounds great. There's also a lot of detail in the percussion here, giving this mix a somewhat tribal feel.
Next comes the Dub, which has a staccato rhythm and then brings in the rolling piano riff, which sounds very dramatic as the track builds to a warm, soothing breakdown. And then finally, Jeff Fader's Return 2 Berlin Remix ups the tempo and makes great use of the great vocal, cut-n-pasting it and adding retro bleeps and a lush string line in the background. It's techier than the other mixes, without actually veering into tech-house territory.
This is a really tasty release and all the mixes are great, so It should do very well. I look forward to giving all four a spin at some point as the weather warms up to suit it!
