Sardinian producer Giancarlo Zara makes his debut for the long-running French label
This EP features two original tech-house tracks from Giancarlo Zara and a remix of each.
The Original Mix of Love Music itself starts with a long intro made up of traditional percussion, electro-style drum hits and congas. It's quite involved and sets you up nicely for the main song, which has both male and female vocals, the male one spoken and the female one sung. It might sound messy but it actually works very well in this context. Next up is Forever, which also has a long percussive intro with snare hits and wood blocks, then brings in a funky bassline and a sung female vocal, and is quite a groover.
Then it's the turn of the remixes to do their thing. Love Music is given a dubby makeover on the Lo Coco Remix, with risers and lots of timed echo effects on the female vocal. Finally you have the Alex Loco & Antonio Ariano remix of Forever, which starts with a solitary kickdrum then adds first a synth line and a hi-hat, then bass and a snare roll, taking us to the vocal, which is only used in snippets.
Out of the four tracks, my favourites are the original mix of Forever and the remix of Love Music as they're the funkiest of the four.
