The album will be released in four parts in May and June
Fabio & Grooverider are to mark the 30-year anniversary of their legendary London club night RAGE with an epic 32-track compilation that will be released in four parts by Above Board Projects.
Housed in London's famous Heaven club and set up by Fabio & Grooverider themselves in 1988, RAGE is regarded by many as the birthplace of jungle/drum & bass. As the then-new US sounds of house and techno were eagerly taken up by UK producers with backgrounds in hip-hop and electro, or in reggae soundsystem culture, new styles emerged: first hardcore, then 'jungle techno' and, eventually, drum & bass. The new album aims to showcase the melting pot of musical styles played at the club that helped make that happen, with vintage house and techno cuts nuzzling up alongside hardcore anthems and, perhaps most importantly, some of the most influential and sought-after tracks from the early days of jungle/D&B..
The album will be released initally as a series of four vinyl doublepacks, with the first two available on 31 May and the second two dropping, alongside the full 32-track CD and digital editions, on 21 June. You don't have to wait that long to order your copy, though – just click here!
