House gangster grooves all the way from the Russian Federation
This is going to be an interesting one to review, given that I can tell you next to nothing about either the artist or the label, other than that both are from Russia, and that there's only the one track. But Funky Jump is good enough to warrant yours truly surmounting such obstacles, so it's getting a review anyway!
The overall feeling is very reminiscent of something that might have come out on Magnetic or I'm A House Gangster, albeit perhaps a little rawer. Rolling house beats? Check. Ker-razy jazz keyboard licks? Check. Cut-up hip-hop vox? Check (but applied sparingly, which is even better). General sense of wonked-out, 2.30am jacking abandon for more discerning house floors? Checkmate!
If you're a fan of Sneak, Carter etc then guess what? You now have yet another new up-and-coming artist to keep an eye on...
