Remixes to suit a range of moods come from Die Vogelperspektive and Junior Gee
Denmark's What Happens - headed up by former iDJ scribe Tim Andresen - serve up a release here that'll please lovers of deep, tech and progressive house alike.
There are three mixes of The Things We Do to choose from. In its original form, it opens with tuff kicks and throbbing synth bass, then adds various scraping, echoing FX before fragments of soulful male vocal lead into more bottom-heavy synth squelch, the sum of all these parts being an eyes-down chugger tailormade for small-hours play. Die Vogelperspektive opts for more rolling beats with a lighter touch and finds plenty of room in the mix for atmospherics and synth washes, making this pass perhaps better suited for the warm-up. And then finally Junior Gee's pulsating remix, which has a vaguely French Kiss-y air about it, is the one that could see this creeping into sets by the likes of Digweed or Cattaneo.
The original would be my personal fave here, but - straddling dancefloor boundaries while keeping that soul-flavoured vocal front and centre throughout - this is another strong release all round from one of Denmark's finest house imprints.
