Canada's Ready Mix gather together the best of Mihail Bessmertny's productions and remixes for the label

Here we have the latest installment in Ready Mix Records' Focus series of compilations, which gather together the best of a particular artist's output for the label. This time around, the producer under the spotlight is Mihail Bessmertny, better known to deep house fans as Deep Active Sound.

The album features just two of Bessertny's own productions: opener Other Culture is a dubby, flotation tank-friendly affair while Translation is just that little tuffer and struttier. Once those two are out of the way, the rest of the album is comprised of remixes he's done of Ready Mix tracks by other people – and with names like Fer Ferrari, Kiano & Below Bangkok, Moti Brothers, Greenfish and Moti Brothers on the roster, deep house lovers will already be expecting good things. They won't be disappointed.

The eight remixes included stick largely to the dubwise and tech-tinged side of the street – lots of pads, lots of FX, lots of reverb – but as we near the end things do get a little funkier, courtesy of Moti Brothers' Magic Moments and Onur Ozman's Akzeptanz. As a result, anyone whose musical interests hover anywhere around the deep house, deep tech and minimal region will find plenty to enjoy here – a fine collection from a fine producer and a fine label.
