The as yet untitled album, Culprate's fifth, will be out in the new year

UK bass music producer Culprate has successfully crowdfunded the making of his fifth long player, hitting his £30K target on Indiegogo in just two weeks.

Hailing from Bristol in the UK's southwest, John Hislop AKA Culprate has carved out a niche for himself at the more experimental end of the bass music spectrum, where dubstep, glitch and IDM collide. His first album, Flatline, was released in 2011, and there've been three more since then – 2011's Gradients, 2014's Deliverance and 2018's Others. Deliverance was also crowdfunded, but not as quickly as this new album has been.

Cuplrate said: "As an independent artist you always feel like you could be doing something more, but unfortunately money doesn't always allow you to reach your potential. Although crowdfunding an album is incredibly daunting, every pound that is donated only spurs you on to make the best music possible to show your appreciation. Thank you to everyone who has donated and helped me reach my goals, letting me do what I love."

As a reward for his backers, Culprate has already shared a couple of demos from the studio sessions for the new album, which you can hear below.
