Adrian Sherwood must be in a gregarious kinda mood this year. Hot on the heels of his just-released second album with Bristol dubstep legend Pinch comes news of another collaborative long player, this one produced alongside fellow UK electronic music pioneers Coldcut and featuring a stellar array of guests to boot.

Due to drop on Ninja Tune on 19 May, Outside The Echo Chamber will be the first time Sherwood and Coldcut have worked together directly, despite having much in common. Both are widely credited with having helped popularise bass-, sample- and breakbeat-based music in the UK, both run highly respected, long-running record labels (On-U Sound and Ninja Tune, respectively), and both have worked with a stunning list of musicians and artists over the years. Oh, and going all the way back to the 70s, Sherwood and Coldcut's Jon More also have High Wycombe Technical College in common...

As if this meeting of two (or rather three) great musical minds weren't enough, they've dragged some of their mates into the studio with 'em, too! So reggae legends Lee 'Scratch' Perry and Junior Reid supply vocals on Divide And Rule, while mic duties on opener Vitals are taken care of by Roots Manuva, Mungo's Hi-Fi flex their remix muscles and Toddla T and Dave 'Switch' Taylor lend a hand behind the board. Also onboard, naturally, are the very backbone of On-U Sound: guitarist Skip McDonald and bassist Doug Wimbish.

The album's described by Ninja Tune as "freshly minted electronic dub-pop" and the first track to emerge, the aforesaid Divide And Rule, can be heard below.
