Nopreset boss Carlos A comes to Colombian label J.A Music with a fine two-track EP
Okay, so we're a bit late on this one, due to circumstances beyond – it was due to get reviewed just when the iDJ website came crashing down for two weeks. Which wasn't great, obviously… but a promise is a promise!
The man at the controls for this one, Carlos A, is best known as the boss of Spanish-Chilean label Nopreset Records, but here he comes to J.A Music with a two-track EP. On the A, Indice itself is an unhurried deep house groove with a rock-solid 4/4 kick placed firmly front and centre; the mellifluous bassline is quite understated in comparison, while assorted synth wibbles and barely audible vocal fragments make up the rest of the sound palette – bar the nagging two-note organ (?) riff that serves as a main hook. Flip it for Audio Key, which is a notch pacier, with a similar style of keys riff of the original, a nice chunky b-line and snatches of spoken female vocal.
Two high quality deep house jams that certainly don't deserve to be overlooked just because they're – shock! horror! gasp! – a whole two weeks old.
