A chilled delight for the Ibiza season ahead
With the summer season on its way, there's a glut of mellow tunes available on download sites right now. Some, like this one, are very good - a lot more are not so. So what is it that separates the wheat from the chaff?
Well for a start, Nocturnal Entities is both well written and well produced, whereas much of what's available seems to have been made with very little thought put into the end result. It starts with the bassline and a percussive loop, and builds with the addition of the kick, hi-hat and a synth. That takes you to the haunting, spoken vocal, which features an American woman saying "raindrops falling, all around, trickling down, I’m ready to fly" in a breathy voice. It's backed by an arpeggiated synth riff and a neat pair of top lines that are all great hooks and make this progressive house track sound sublime.
Perfect for late night soirees or hot summer afternoons - preferably by a body of water and a bar - Nocturnal Entities weighs in at over nine minutes long but never drags. If you're looking for a track to gently move a blissed-out crowd, this ticks all the boxes.
