An excellent refix that's being issued posthumously in his memory

Alan Fitzpatrick’s We Are The Brave label have been busy putting down roots for the last 12 months, with the runaway success of of their first single paving the way. This, their latest release, comes fully armed with a Trevino Remix, which is what I'm focusing on today.

The track starts with an ostentatious kickdrum and hi-hat pattern, which is then joined by reverbed string stabs, an acidic bassline and grinding pads that make up a gritty solid backbeat for the track. The Original Mix was written in 2016, but Alan wanted to wait until he had the right remix in the can before he unleashed it and Trevino’s remix in February 2017 gave him just what he needed. It's more downtempo and euphoric than the original, but has guts and is relentless in its onslaught on your senses, while being tempered by emotive pad sounds and a lead line that summons you to the dancefloor like a siren's call. And at over eight minutes in length, it takes you on a proper journey when you get there, with a breakdown that softens the hard-edged body blows which the sub-bass throws your way.

As you're no doubt aware, Trevino - AKA Marcus Intalex - passed away earlier this year, and Alan says he's grateful to Marcus’ family for allowing him to release this remix posthumously. "Like everyone, I was deeply shocked to hear of Marcus' passing," he says, "but I'm hugely proud of the remix he made of Magnetic Dog and felt the best way to honour him was to share his fantastic work with the world."
