The new version of the best-selling controller features a piano-like Gen 2 keyboard
Following the recent release of its MPC Beats software package – a basic DAW designed to be easy for beginners to use, and based on the workflow of the company's legendary MPC workstations – AKAI PRO has upgraded its MPC Mini controller keyboard.
The new version now has "reimagined Gen 2 enhanced dynamic keyboard", which is a fancy way of saying its 25 keys now have a more realistic, piano-like action. It also now ships with a copy of the MPC Beats software, plus a raft of bundled samples from the likes of Sample Tools by Cr2, 49 Instruments and MSX Sound Design. You also get several bundled plug-ins and virtual instruments, including AIR Hybrid, Mini Grand and Velvet.
Other features, such as the eight backlit, velocity-sensitive MPC-style performance pads, eight rotary controllers and configurable three-mode thumbstick, remain unaltered from the previous MPC Mini model.
The new unit is available now, priced $99/£89. For more information, watch the video below or hit up AKAI PRO's own website.
