Label bosses Tough Love deliver a single-track release
Tough Love deliver the goods again, with another underground track that's got a great sample to drive the good-time message home.
This single-track release starts out with a percussion loop and the word 'beat' repeated over and over, and builds with crowd noise and part of the main sample repeating the word 'disco' until the deep, distorted bassline comes in. We now have a powerful backbeat in place; when the sample comes in properly, it's a spoken one about how disco started and it fits in perfectly with the whole ethos of the song. Tough Love then cut up the sample and add some Philly string stabs for good measure, as well as some subtle, choppy guitar notes. The end result is a funk nugget that's bound to do damage wherever it's played.
If you're looking for a good-time track that isn't cheesy and has meaning to the audience, you should check this one out: I'll be giving it a good hammering over the coming months, and I suspect a lot of other people will be as well!
