A
new documentary about The Orb will be premiered at Manchester Film
Festival on 5 March, the day after the release of the duo's new EP
Alpine. Entitled
Lunar Orbit, the 70-minute film follows Alex Paterson and Thomas
Fehlmann as they record Moonbuilding 2703 AD, their 13th and latest
album, which came out on Kompakt back in the summer.
Directed
by Patrick Buchanan, Lunar Orbit includes talking head contributions
from many of The Orb's friends and sometime collaborators, including Youth, Mixmaster Morris, Steve Hillage, Kris
Needs and Coldcut's Matt Black, reggae producer Nick
Manasseh, schoolfriend and renowned session bassist Guy Pratt, ex-NME
journalist Helen Mead and others.
