Parliament/Funkadelic top a bill that also includes Sugarhill Gang, Crazy P, Norman Jay, Mr Scruff and more
The line-up has been announced for the second edition of The Funk & Soul Weekender (TF&SW), which will take place at Camber Sands Holiday Camp in Sussex on 12-14 May. The inaugural edition of The Funk & Soul Weekender, which is brought to you by London club promoters Soundcrash, was held at the same venue this May, with Roy Ayers and Quantic among the attractions. And presumably that went well, because they're back with another killer talent roster for 2017.
Topping the bill are Parliament/Funkadelic, whose live show is something that, in our humble opinion, everyone should experience at least once! Not far behind George and co in the "legendary" stakes are hip-hop veterans The Sugarhill Gang, who are also set to appear.
Elsewhere at the Weekender you can find Crazy P, The Hot 8 Brass Band, Norman Jay, Mr Scruff, Nubiyan Twist and Huey Morgan, plus a host of up-and-coming talent including Flamingods, United Vibrations, Harleighblu, Lukuta and the funk/soul choir Some Voices, with more names still TBA. All this, plus jazz dance classes, pool parties and, er, 'disco dodge ball'.
With support from the likes of Tru Thoughts, BBE, Wah Wah 45, Mr Bongo and Strut, The Funk & Soul Weekender is rapidly establishing itself as a must-check for lovers of vintage black music. Wanna go? Then tickets are available now, starting at a bargain £109 - click here to get yours!
