Swaziland's Sizwe Mtsetfwa comes to US label Sound Vessel Records
Making his Sound Vessel Records debut this week is young Swaziland producer Sizwe Mtsetfwa AKA Sizz NIckhrome, who only made his recording debut full stop a little over a year ago (on Deep Clicks with A Glass Of Vodka, to be precise).
There are six tracks on the EP: four rubs of Raisins Dipped In Honey itself, plus SiZZiN's Smooth & Chlled Experiment and GOOD. The title track, in its Original form, is an unhurried, ultra-deep affair, verging on flotation tank territory. Deepear's Remix is a more percussive pass, while Smoove Rankin ups the tempo a notch and opts for a fuller, more luxuriant soundstage, making this the rub for those whose tastes veer (ever so sliightly!) towards the prog/melodic/organic side of things. The pick for yours truly though is the Stephunk Remix, which keeps things nice and deep but rides shuffling drums that give it a lot more floor appeal.
As for the two bonus cuts, SiZZiN's Smooth & Chilled Experiment is a. fairly self-explanatory and b. ever so slightly reminsicent of the Madhouse sound (check those warping synths), while GOOD is another very deep, eyes-down shuffler built to keep weary floors moving as dawn approaches.
All told, if you like it seriously deep this is one to check for sure.
