The 32-year-old producer is receiving treatment for gastric lymphoma
Dubstep and bass music star Rusko, AKA Chris Mercer, has been forced to cancel all his upcoming DJ gigs after being diagnosed with gastric lymphoma, a form of stomach cancer.
Rusko himself broke the news on Twitter yesterday, posting:
"So after a stay in a US hospital and then back here in the UK, I am currently beginning treatment for gastric lymphoma (a type of stomach cancer). Regrettably I will not be able to make any shows this summer but I do still have loads of music coming out which is awesome - and gonna cheer me up for sure. In the meantime if I'm a bit quiet you know why. Lots of love and thanks for the support always, Chris xxx"
Gastric lymphoma is one of the rarer types of stomach cancer, and usually affects patients over the age of 60. However, the recovery rate ranges from 70 to 90% depending on the type of treatment, and with Rusko being only 32 years old to boot, his prognosis should hopefully be good.
We're sure all iDJ readers will join us in wishing him all the very best for a speedy recovery.
