The Hungarian duo come to BiG AL's Haute Musique label
Hungarian brothers Norbert and Daniel Motolai serve up some fine dubby deep house grooves here for Haute Musique, the ever-excellent boutique sister label to Canada's ReadyMix Records.
There are three mixes of Chord Jungle on offer, and while it has to be said they don't vary hugely in style, there are subtle differences between them. The Original Mix is a midtempo, chuggy affair and fairly dense in its construction, with layers of white noise and dreamy pads galore sitting atop its rolling, languid groove. The Adrian Pricope Remix tones down the atmospherics somewhat but adds an Indian-sounding interlude in the mid-section of the track, while finally the Salski Remix opts for a more stripped n' strutty approach while adding some serious heft in the bottom end.
Said differences are very subtle, and to be honest if you'd play any one of the three mixes you'd probably just as happily play the other two. But if pushed, the Original just nudges it for me.
