Mysterious London-based producer makes his Slime debut with this killer EP

London producer Mind Of A Dragon, known for his work on the New Movement label, comes to Slime Recordings with a four-track EP.

Truth gets the ball rolling with moody dark bass, steppy beats and R&B-ish female vocal cut-ups, all building for a full minute before head-frying synth descenders come in to take us to a slightly ravier place. Emotions itself follows, which has nothing to do with the Geeneus UK funky classic but instead is a slice of sparse, broken soul from the Donna Dee school of thought. Not The Same features a warping bassline that would've gone down a storm at Niche back in the day, while finally Thoughts is a twitchier stepper that wouldn't have sounded out of place on the short-lived Azuli Black Label imprint.

Taking the more underground side of classic UK garage as a blueprint but giving it a 21st Century refix, this is an outstanding release that further cements Slime's position as one of most essential labels operating in this arena right now.
