The all-conquering 00s brand is reborn in the wake of its 20th anniversary celebrations
Love 'em or loathe 'em, Hedkandi certainly put their stamp on dance music in a big way back in the 00s, releasing countless compilations and hosting parties all over the world – and now they're officially back in the game.
Mark Doyle, who founded Hedkandi while DJing for Jazz FM in the late 90s, returned to the brand in 2019 to curate their 20th anniversary parties. Since then, a series of successful lockdown livestreams have shown there's still a market for glitzy, party-oriented house, soul and disco vibes in the modern era – and we'd be very surprised if they hadn't been noting the success of Glitterbox and Horse Meat Disco, too.
Accordingly, Hedkandi – with Doyle at the helm – are now 100% back on their grind, at least events-wise, with two daytime Hedkandi parties now scheduled to take place at Digital, Newcastle on 24 October and Cargo, London on 13 November, with both events running from 2pm-9pm. Whether the record label/compilation series will also return at any point remains to be seen.
In the meantime, if you want to get yourself along to Digital or Cargo and party like it's 1999, then full details can be found on Hedkandi's own website.
